"Scooter" Libby Disbarred from Practising Law

Lewis "Scooter" Libby will lose his license to practise or appear in court in Washington until at least 2012. He will also probably lose any bar membership he holds in other states.
Convicted of lying to the FBI during the Valerie Plame enquiry, Libby's disbarment is effective as of June 12, 2007.
The Court of Appeals decided it had no choice in the decision, "When a member of the Bar is convicted of an offense involving moral turpitude, disbarment is mandatory," the judges wrote. " This court has held that obstruction of justice and perjury are crimes of moral turpitude per se."
Libby was sentenced to thirty months in jail but President Bush, while calling the sentence excessive, commuted it.
